Introduction
Raging Thunder is a gut-churning, tire burning racer developed for a broad range of mobile platforms and handheld devices. Race against time, CPU controlled opponents or up to three other speed addicts in this fast paced and exhilarating coin-op style racing game.
Raging Thunder allows players control over some of the most extreme muscle cars in the world, on a variety of tracks set in different beautifully realized environments. The crisp graphics, responsive controls and polished details of Raging Thunder are sure to impress both casual gamers and the hard-core alike.

Story
You’re strapped so tight to your seat that the smallest movement makes the belt chafe at your chest and neck. While a single drop of sweat lazily trickles down your temple and chin, you wonder yet again what it is you have gotten yourself into, but an intoxicating mixture of dread and almost sensuous excitement soon drowns out all other emotions.
The air is ripe with exhaust fumes, the raging thunder of engines and an almost palatable tension. If adrenaline could fuel race cars, they could just connect the fuel-lines directly to the drivers and save a couple of bucks on gas.
The red light shifts to yellow and your world shrinks to the width of a windscreen… each second stretches itself into an eternity. This is it, this is all you’ve been waiting for and all you have ever feared, rolled into one soul-searing moment. And then the green light hits…

Gameplay
Not a realistic racing simulator, Raging Thunder is a game based on tried and true arcade values. Speed, accessibility and fun, in other words, trump the limitations imposed by so called ‘real world physics’. In the world of Raging Thunder there are no such things as ‘too narrow turns’ or ‘impossible overtakes’ (and luckily, definitely no such things as ‘traffic control officers’).
The primary strengths of Raging Thunder, and the aspects we ourselves are most proud of, is its immersive gameplay mechanics, its responsive, precise controls and its rich, beautiful graphics. It is a game for everyone to ‘pick up and play’, for ten minutes or for two hours, but one that evolves as players progress. We want Raging Thunder to create an itch in players that only ‘finishing that next race’ can scratch. Increasing difficulty, unlockable features and a dynamic game world offers replayability and guarantees that the game stays fresh.

Technical info
Mobile platforms are uniquely suited for multiplayer gaming, yet such functionality is often sorely under-utilized. We at Polarbit are proud to be leaders in the rectification of this issue, and offer Raging Thunder as a first step in the process. Game modes feature single player career mode, shareable ghost races and up to four player competitive multiplayer. Supported connections are Bluetooth, GPRS and WLAN.
To ensure maximum device coverage, Raging Thunder is available in two different implementations; a 3D version from a third-person perspective targeted at devices supported by Polarbits’ own Fuse platform (Symbian, PocketPC, PalmOS and others) and a 2D top-down, isometric version targeted at devices supporting MIDP 1.0 and 2.0 Java runtime environments. While there are some inevitable differences between implementations the core gameplay mechanics, game modes and features are the same, ensuring a first-rate gaming experience regardless of perspective.

Raging Thunder 3D features three different cars, each with their specific feature set and strengths.
Storm FX
The Storm FX handles exceptionally well, but is somewhat lacking in speed and acceleration. It is a perfect car for newbies, or for winding tracks with lots of sharp curves.
In Championship mode, Storm FX is the first car available to you, and the car with the least potential for upgrades.Wasper
The Wasper is a real powerhouse when it comes to acceleration, but has a slower top-speed than the Iron Claw and does not handle as well as the Storm FX. It is the car of choice for drivers with an itchy pedal-foot and a taste for burning rubber.
The Wasper is the second car available in Championship mode and has somewhat more potential for upgrades than the Storm FX.Iron Claw
The Iron Claw is the wet dream of speed freaks everywhere; raw engine power. It is the fastest car of the three, but beware: it takes it a while to reach maximum velocity and it does not offer you the smooth ride of the Storm FX.
The Iron Claw is the third car available in Championship mode and has superior potential for upgrades.
Upgrades
There are three different areas of your car to upgrade during Championship mode.
Aerodynamics
In the world of Raging Thunder 3D, what it all comes down to in the end is speed. The faster you go, the more races you will win and the more money you will earn. Aerodynamic upgrades affect the top-speed of your car and may very well be what allows you to slip ahead of the competition and win tight, close races.
Engine
They say that fifty percent of the race is won with an excellent start. The engine upgrade option is all about tuning your car for the fastest possible acceleration, and that little extra edge when the green light hits.
Tires
Pushing your car to the limit of speed and acceleration puts a tremendous amount of strain on your ability to handle all that brutal power. New, upgraded tires are a must if you do not want to spend the entire races bouncing from side to side of the track.
(go to top)
Controlling your vehicle is a relatively straightforward affair. Pushing “4” or “left” steers the car to the left, “6” or “right” steers it to the right. If auto acceleration is switched off, “2” or “up” increases the speed of the car. “Down” or “8” is used to brake (not that we’d ever need that one, but anyway).
For gyro enabled handsets tilting the device left or right makes the car turn in the appropriate direction; the steeper you tilt, the harder the turn. Braking and acceleration is handled the same as on standard devices.
(go to top)
There are three different items scattered around the tracks in Raging Thunder 3D; two that are crucial for your success and one that may ruin the otherwise best run races.
Lightning
Like a gift from the Gods of speed; blue lightning bolts give you an instant boost of speed lasting ten seconds. You need to keep your eyes peeled for these or you can kiss any chance of winning races goodbye right away.

Dollar signs
Dollar signs give you a bit of extra cash when collected. Only appearing in Championship mode; they are an absolute must if you hope to upgrade your cars to their limits. One dollar sign represents fifty dollars.

Laughing skulls
Beware the laughing skulls! If you should be so unfortunate as to collect one, your car will slow to a crawl for five seconds. Tackling your opponents into them in multiplayer mode can provide both priceless entertainment and that small edge that wins you the race.
(go to top)
There are a host of different game modes to compete in included in Raging Thunder 3D, both by yourself and against your friends or foes from all over the world. For levels to be available in time attack or multiplayer mode you have to unlock them in championship mode. Note that only the player starting a multiplayer game needs to have access to the specific level.
Single player
Quick race
Quick race lets you race instantly, without choosing car or creating a profile.
Arcade
In arcade mode you race through all levels in turn. If the timer ever hits zero, the game is up and it is back to the beginning. Luckily for you, there are time extension points spread throughout each level.
Time attack
Time attack lets you race for the fastest time with the car of your choice on any track unlocked in championship mode. There are no opponents, just you and the merciless ticking of the clock.
Championship
Championship mode takes you through all the levels in turn; allowing you to purchase upgrades for your car or even buy an entirely new one between tracks. Once a level has been reached in championship mode it will be unlocked and available in time attack and multiplayer races.

Multiplayer
Raging Thunder 3D supports multiplayer races between people from all around the world, over carrier networks. If the active player profile does not have a network user, you will be prompted to create one before starting game. Please note that the netuser name must be at least four characters long and unique for each player. It your chosen netuser name already exists on the server, you will be prompted to choose another.
These are the options and settings you are presented with when setting up or joining a multiplayer game:
Refresh list
Refresh list updates the list of available multiplayer game rooms.
Change car
Change car allows you to choose which car to use in multiplayer games.
Create
Create lets you create a new game room and start a new multiplayer game for other players to join.
Join
Join connects you to the chosen game room and lets you join already connected players.
Leave
Leave takes you back to the Bluetooth/network selection screen.
